Day 1: Muscat

Join us to discover the desert of Oman on horseback. We will start from Muscat, the capital, which lies on the Gulf of Oman and is surrounded by mountains and desert. With a history dating back to ancient times, the city alternates modern shopping centers with monuments built on cliffs, such as the 16th-century Portuguese forts of Al Jalali and Mirani, which overlook the harbor and its modern Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, covered in marble. From here, we will reach the Wahiba Sands desert, with its 10,000 km² of sand, stretching across the interior of Oman, just 200 km southeast of Muscat. You will find yourself in a magical sea of golden sand with dunes continuously shaped by the wind, reaching up to 200 meters in height. Visiting the desert of Oman on horseback, also known as Sharqiya Sands, means immersing yourself in a fascinating and unfamiliar nature. This land with its great equestrian traditions, where the graceful Arabian horse reigns supreme, offers an adventure far from the West, where, in contact with ancient Bedouin cultures, you will absorb the history of a country whose history dates back to 3 centuries B.C.
ITALY/MUSCAT (-/-/-)
Upon arrival at Muscat International Airport (MCT), meet our representatives and transfer to your 4* hotel located in the old city.
If arrival time allows, we will have time to visit the Mutrah Souk "Al Dhalam Souq," one of the oldest in the Arab world, the Grand Mosque, the Sultan’s Palace (Alam Palace), and the Portuguese Fort. Free dinner and overnight stay at Hotel Al Falaj Mutrah (or similar).

Additional departure dates upon request, preferably starting on Saturdays, with a minimum of 2 people departing from Italy in the months of January, February, November, and December.

Day 2: Muscat

MUSCAT/WADI BENA KHALID/BIDIYAH (B/-/D)
After breakfast, transfer to Wadi Beni Khalid, about a 3.5-hour drive, the most famous wadi in the Sharqiyah region, where we can swim in the large pools of water. In the late afternoon, transfer to the guesthouse at the gates of the desert.

Day 3: Muscat

5: WAHIBA DESERT (B/L/D)
After breakfast, a short transfer to the stables where you will meet the staff, made up of Bedouins who own the horses and breed them, who will accompany you during the following days. Oman has a strong tradition of flat races as well as line vaulting. The Sultanate of Oman is a land of horse lovers and riders who treat their animals as family.
The horses that will accompany you during this adventure will be assigned. Over the next 4 days, you will ride for about 4 hours a day in the Wahiba Desert, named after the Bedouin tribes that inhabit it. This is an adventure in the vastness of this wind-sculpted desert, 10,000 square kilometers of golden sand, far from everything and everyone. You will encounter Bedouin tribes, whose homes are covered with palm leaves, unlike those in Jordan, who use drapes. Camel breeding is very active here, with prices rising significantly when camels compete in nearby Emirates racetracks. Meals and overnight stay at the tented camp.

Day 6: Muscat

WAHIBA DESERT/NIZWA (B/L/D)
Last half-day of riding, and in the afternoon, transfer to Nizwa, the ancient capital. Dinner and overnight stay in a traditional house.

Day 7: Muscat

NIZWA/MUSCAT (B/L/D)
After breakfast, visit Nizwa, the main city in the interior, which was once the first capital of Oman. Located at the southern end of the Hajar Mountains, Oman’s highest mountain range, the city's vast gardens and palm groves are dominated by the ancient fort with the largest tower in Oman (40 meters in diameter and 20 meters in height). The Falaj canals, built according to an ancient irrigation system over 500 years old, bring water to the oasis. In the large souk, you can admire traditional silver jewelry and local crafts. Lunch in Al Hamra or Misfah, two typical villages at the foot of the mountains. After Nizwa, we will head back to Muscat, reaching it in about 2 hours. Relaxing afternoon by the sea. Dinner and overnight stay at Hotel Al Mouj (or similar).

Day 8:

MUSCAT/ITALY (B/-/-)
Breakfast and transfer to the airport in time for your flight to Italy. Alternatively, an extra night in Muscat on a full-board basis and transfer to the town of Barka, south of the capital, where you can explore the long beach on horseback. Departure for the airport the following morning.

Note: The itinerary above is indicative and may be subject to changes due to weather conditions or circumstances beyond our control. It is also possible to participate even if you are not a rider, by engaging in trekking or camel activities during the day and joining the rest of the group in the evening.
