Day 1: Madaba

ITALY/MADABA (-/-/-)

From the beautiful and enigmatic Petra to the Wadi Rum desert. Petra, the mysterious archaeological site with numerous facades carved into the rock, was abandoned in the 8th century due to the decline in trade. Although it was inhabited by Bedouin families until recent years, it became a historical interest in the last century and is now a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the Seven Wonders of the World. We will then ride through the valley that leads us to Little Petra and finally reach the Wadi Rum desert. Undoubtedly one of the most beautiful deserts in the world, known for its variety of colors and landscapes, Wadi Rum is also called the Valley of the Moon... and it's no coincidence that the famous movie The Martian by Ridley Scott was filmed here. In prehistoric times, it was the sea bed, and today we can see valleys and granite rock canyons carved by water over millennia. Also a UNESCO World Heritage site, it is famous as the desert of Lawrence of Arabia, the renowned archaeologist and writer. With his book The Seven Pillars of Wisdom, he gave the name to one of the most characteristic rock formations in this desert. This itinerary is for lovers of vast spaces, silence, and freedom, who are ready to spend several hours riding in the desert heat… and later, under the starry sky, by the fire with the fragrance of the narghilé, for a total break from reality… Last but not least, a day at the Dead Sea, whose healing properties are famous worldwide.

Pick-up from Queen Alia International Airport (AMM) in Amman and transfer to a hotel in Madaba, about 20 minutes away, in the central area of this Christian city (guided tours available upon request for an extra charge). Dinner at your leisure and overnight stay in a double room at Mariam Hotel (or similar).

Day 2: Petra

MADABA/PETRA (B/-/D)

Breakfast at the hotel, pick-up at 8:00 AM, and transfer for about 3 hours to Petra. After leaving our luggage at the hotel, we will spend the entire day visiting the ancient Nabateans. A guided visit in the morning through Al Siq, the famous canyon, and the ruins of this fascinating UNESCO World Heritage site, ending at Khaznet. Lunch at leisure, and in the afternoon, until sunset, there will be the possibility to explore the archaeological site on your own. Overnight stay at Edom Hotel or similar.

Day 3: Petra

PETRA/LITTLE PETRA (B/L/D)

Departure at 9:00 AM and transfer for 20 minutes to the meeting point with the horses. We will ride through the valleys surrounding Petra, leading us to the outskirts of another archaeological site known as “Little Petra.” Stop for lunch and a walking visit to the site. We will then return to the horses, which will be loaded onto a truck for transfer to Wadi Rum. Overnight in a comfort tent camp at Seven Wonders (or similar).

Day 4: Wadi Rum

LITTLE PETRA/WADI RUM (B/L/D)

After breakfast, transfer to the desert and the stables in Wadi Moussa. Here, you will meet the rest of the team who will accompany you for the next days. We will ride southward, towards the Barrah canyon, and reach our desert camp for lunch. In the late afternoon, we will ride again for about 2 hours to discover the famous Um Twiguy and some ancient inscriptions. Dinner and overnight stay in a comfort tent camp.

Day 5: Wadi Rum

WADI RUM (B/L/D)

After breakfast, we will ride towards the Barrah pyramids! We will encounter other spectacular canyons, pinnacles, and peaks, famous worldwide for their colors and unique formations. We will stop for lunch in the shade of the canyons and return to our desert camp in time for sunset.

Day 6: Madaba

WADI RUM (B/L/D)

After breakfast, we will ride towards the iconic Burdha Arch. We will cross beautiful canyons carved in the sand and then stop for lunch at the base of the mountain bearing the same name. In the afternoon, we will ride along sandy tracks with a stunning view of the red mountains until we reach the Um Ishrin canyon. Dinner and overnight stay in the comfort tent camp.

Day 7: Madaba

WADI RUM/MADABA (B/L/D)

On the last half-day ride, we will enjoy the unique, world-famous scenery where Bedouins, Ottomans, and British troops passed over a century ago along the famous "Road of Independence," passing through Baten El Ghoul and Lawrence of Arabia's house. We will finish our adventure at the Bedouin village of Wadi Um, where we will bid farewell to the horses. After lunch, transfer to Madaba, about a 4-hour journey. Arrival in the late afternoon and check-in at Aitch Boutique Hotel (or similar). Dinner at a traditional restaurant and overnight at the hotel.

Day 8: Madaba

MADABA/DEAD SEA/MADABA (B/L/-)

Breakfast and transfer to the Dead Sea, where you will spend the day at the beach of the Holiday Inn Hotel (lunch included). On the return to Madaba in the afternoon, stop at Mount Nebo, which rises to 817 meters and offers a panoramic view of the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and the hills of Jerusalem. Mount Nebo is also known as the place where Moses first saw the Promised Land. Dinner at leisure and overnight stay in Madaba.
