Day 1: Rømø

ITALY/RØMØ (-/-/D)
On horseback, discover the Frisian Islands archipelago! These islands form an archipelago in the North Sea, running parallel to the coasts of the Netherlands, Germany, and Denmark, covering a total length of about 450 km, just a few kilometers from the mainland. The stretch of sea between the mainland and the islands is called the Wadden Sea ("Waddenzee" in Dutch or "Vadehavet" in Danish), literally "muddy sea." Famous for its rich flora and fauna, in June 2009, the Wadden Sea was included as a UNESCO World Heritage site for its natural value. We will be based on the island of Rømø, and from here, riding the sturdy Icelandic horses, we will have the chance to explore the nearby islands while enjoying the peaceful sensation that only being in the middle of the sea can provide...
Among the most important islands we will visit:

Mandø, which likely means “island of men,” is about 7.63 km² in size and home to 62 inhabitants. Located about 12 km southwest of the ancient city of Ribe, it is surrounded by vast muddy stretches and salt marshes, providing feeding areas for countless birds and other organisms. The island can only be accessed twice a day during low tide via a four-kilometer dirt road that connects it to the mainland.
Vester Vedsted, strategically close to the beautiful Ribe, offers many attractions to explore, making it an undeniably popular travel destination.
Arrival at Billund airport, meet with our representatives, and transfer for about one hour to the island of Rømø, connected to the mainland by a long isthmus (alternatively, car rental is recommended). Check-in from 15:00. Buffet dinner at the hotel between 18:00 and 20:00. Afterward, meet the guides at the hotel bar for a program presentation of the week. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 2: Rømø

RØMØ (B/-/D)
Breakfast between 7:00 and 10:00. Today, there will be a 2-hour horse tour to familiarize yourself with the assigned horse. You can choose to ride at 9:00 or 13:00 in the Kirkebi area. Dinner by the campfire on the beach, overlooking the Wadden Sea. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 3: Rømø

RØMØ (B/-/D)
After breakfast, departure at 9:00 for a 3-hour ride exploring the Bananklitten beach. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 4: Rømø

RØMØ (B/-/D)
After breakfast, departure at 9:00 for a 4-hour ride exploring Slagterbænken, where, weather permitting, we will have the chance to swim with the horses. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 5: Rømø

RØMØ (B/L/D)
Full day of riding for 7/8 hours. Depending on weather conditions and tides, we will go to Korsesand or Lindet Forest.
Korsesand: We will prepare the horses and load them onto the trailer for the nearby island of Mandø. From there, we will ride through the town and across the dike to Koresand, a large sandbank of about 24 km² in the middle of the Wadden Sea, southwest of Mandø. This area is also known as the “Wet Desert”: endless sand, and if you venture far enough, you cannot see land or water. Despite Korsesand growing over time, there is no vegetation or fixed dunes, as the entire area is submerged by the sea during storms. We will ride through this vast expanse, galloping along the compact beach and enjoying the thousands of birds and seals. After about 3.5 hours, we will return to Mandøgården for a picnic lunch before heading back to Rømø for dinner and overnight stay.
Lindet Forest: We will transport the horses by trailer to this area, covering about 400 acres of stunning nature with incredible flora and fauna, dolmens, and burial chambers from the Stone Age. Picnic lunch and return to Rømø for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Rømø

RØMØ (B/L/D)
After breakfast, departure at 9:00 for a 5-hour ride exploring the island of Rømø. We will ride through the Plantage area to reach the beach. Riding along the shoreline until we reach Lakolk, where we will stop for a picnic lunch. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Rømø

RØMØ (B/L/D)
After breakfast, we will load the horses onto the trailer and depart at 9:00 for Vester Vedsted. From there, we will ride towards Mandø, a small island north of Rømø with fewer than 35 inhabitants, offering peace and fantastic nature. We will ride through the varied landscape of this small island, stop for a picnic lunch, and return to Rømø by van for dinner and overnight stay.
