Day 1: Madaba

ITALY/AMMAN/MADABA (-/-/D)
A program designed to enjoy Jordan on horseback even during the summer months. Available from June to mid-September, we will ride through the highlands up to 1600 meters in the Shobak region, heading towards Petra. Beautiful trails with breathtaking views of Israel and the Wadi Araba, during which we will experience the pastoral life of old mountain Bedouin villages, Jordanian traditions, and the rich history of these unique territories, from the Shobak Castle to Petra, one of the 7 wonders of the world! We will have the unique opportunity to enter Petra on horseback at dawn, riding through the famous Al Siq canyon, arriving in front of the Khazneh. Then we will head to Aqaba, overlooking the Gulf between Israel, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia, where we will have time to swim in the Red Sea. Later, we will head to the Wadi Rum desert, where we will spend a night in a Bedouin camp under the stars... undoubtedly one of the most beautiful deserts in the world for its variety of colors and landscapes; Wadi Rum is also known as the Valley of the Moon... it is no coincidence that the famous film "The Martian" by Ridley Scott was filmed here. In prehistoric times, it was the bottom of the sea, and today we can see valleys and canyons of granite rock carved by water over millennia. Also a UNESCO World Heritage site, it is famous as the desert of Lawrence of Arabia, a renowned archaeologist and writer; with his book "The Seven Pillars of Wisdom," he named one of the most characteristic rock formations in the desert. Finally, we will not forget a stop at the Dead Sea, where we can float effortlessly and apply the famous therapeutic mud.
Pick-up from Queen Alia International Airport (AMM) in Amman and transfer to the hotel in Madaba, about 20 minutes away, in the central area of this Christian city (guided city tours available upon request for an extra fee). Dinner at a typical restaurant within walking distance (until 10:00 PM) and overnight stay in a double room at Aitch Boutique Hotel (or similar).

Day 2: Shoubak

MADABA/SHOBAK (B/L/D)
Early departure for the "Road of Kings." First stop at Kerak Castle, located 1.5 hours by car from Madaba, about 115 km away. Visit the castle, one of the most important fortresses built by the Crusaders. The history of Renaud de Châtillon and the siege of Kerak by Saladin, a story over 1000 years old, will be revealed by your guide. Then, we continue towards Shobak Castle, which we will reach in about 1 hour. The castle, also known as Montreal Krak, is situated on a rocky promontory at over 900 meters. Dramatically perched like a ship on the crest of a hill, Shobak was the first castle built by the Crusaders in Transjordan 1000 years ago. Lunch in Shobak, where the horses and the rest of the team await. We will then depart on horseback along the trails of the Hishe Forest National Park, with breathtaking views of Israel and the Wadi Araba. Enjoy a stunning sunset over the Wadi Araba. Overnight in a tent camp.

Day 3: Shoubak

SHOBAK (B/L/D)
After breakfast, we will ride along the mountain trails towards Beida. Overnight in a tent camp.

Day 4: Shoubak

Day 6: Petra

PETRA (B/-/D)
And here is the most awaited experience... before the official opening of the site, we will enter Petra on horseback, riding the ancient Roman road! The hooves of our horses will echo along the 1.5 km length of the famous Al Siq gorge, leading us to the Khazneh, the most famous monument in the ancient city of Petra! The rest of the day is free for a guided visit of the archaeological site. In the evening, we will gather around the fire and enjoy traditional music to conclude this exceptional day. Overnight in a comfort camp.

Day 7: Aqaba

PETRA/AQABA (B/L/D)
A half-day ride to Little Petra, followed by a visit to the Monastery. Then, a 2.5-hour transfer to Aqaba, a lively town on the Red Sea. Dinner and overnight stay in a hotel. (For those with only 7 nights available, there will be a transfer to Madaba tonight and a transfer to the airport the next day.)

Day 8: Wadi Rum
