Day 1: Sclafani Bagni

A horseback riding journey through the Sicani Mountains with wine as a common denominator offers a truly unique experience, where exceptional hospitality combined with fine food and wine, pristine nature, and local culture create a captivating mix to fully appreciate the beauty and richness of this part of Sicily.
Our journey begins at the historic Tenuta Regaleali of the Tasca d'Almerita family, one of the oldest wineries in the region, where we will immerse ourselves in the wine culture, visiting the historic cellars, learning about the winemaking process, and concluding with a tasting of some of their finest wines.
After a hearty breakfast, we will begin our horseback ride, which will take us through breathtaking landscapes, forests, hills, and vineyards, enjoying spectacular views along the way.
Every day we will be hosted by local businesses mainly run by historic families, where the exclusivity and authenticity of these places will allow us to better understand the daily life and traditions of the area: Farms, Agricultural Companies, Wineries, and even a Medieval Abbey!
The last stop of the tour will be the Ulmo Winery of the Planeta Estate, another gem of the region, run by the renowned family that still upholds hospitality according to ancient traditions. Here, we will explore their cellars and taste unique wines paired with delicious Sicilian dishes.

PALERMO/SCLAFANI BAGNI (-/-/D)
Arrival is expected in the afternoon, with a pick-up from Palermo Airport (PMO) and transfer to Tenuta Regaleali. Check-in and room assignment.
In the afternoon, we will have a first horseback ride to test our horse and get to know each other.
Next, a visit to the winery and a technical wine tasting of 5 wines. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Roccapalumba

SCLAFANI BAGNI / ROCCAPALUMBA (B/L/D)
After breakfast, we will depart on horseback towards Roccapalumba.
Crossing the mountains and vineyards that extend between Valledolmo, Alia, and Roccapalumba, and after a relaxing picnic stop in nature, we will reach the Masseria Acque di Palermo in the afternoon, run by the Morello family, a historic presence in the area.
We will take a brief tour of the facility with Emanuela, the owner and agricultural entrepreneur, who will tell us about the history and activities of her company. Typical dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Roccapalumba

ROCCAPALUMBA / BORGO RIENA (B/L/D)
After a good breakfast, we will continue our journey westward.
We will cover a large portion of the territory, linking three municipalities: Roccapalumba, Lercara Friddi, and Castronovo di Sicilia.
After a lunch stop in Lercara Friddi, our final destination will be the ancient Borgo Riena, of fascist origin, located in the territory of Castronovo di Sicilia.
We will be welcomed at the Agriturismo Casale Riena, situated in a beautiful natural setting, and will spend the late afternoon before having dinner and staying overnight.

Day 4: Prizzi

BORGO RIENA / PRIZZI (B/L/D)
After breakfast, we will depart and ride through the Monte Carcaci Nature Reserve (R.N.O.) and continue towards the Traina Agricultural Company in the Sosio Valley, the innermost part of the Sicani Mountains, between the towns of Prizzi and Palazzo Adriano.
We will stop for lunch near the Sosio River, between the Hippana and Indisi Mountains, before continuing our ride along a beautiful trail by the river to reach the Traina Agricultural Company.
This company, owned by the Traina family for generations, is involved in agriculture, rural hospitality, and horse breeding.
Check-in, followed by a guided tour of the village of Palazzo Adriano with its unique characteristics and features (Albanian culture, Geological and Cinematic Museum, Medieval Castle, Churches, old railway station). Aperitif in the square and communal dinner at the old railway station.

Day 5: Prizzi

PRIZZI / SANTA MARIA DEL BOSCO (B/L/D)
After breakfast, we will continue our journey, riding across a trail above Lake Raia, winding through fields and mountains to reach the town of Campofiorito, near Corleone.
We will have a lunch break at an ancient masseria.
We will then continue by former railway tracks until we reach the majestic Medieval Abbey of Santa Maria del Bosco, located between the towns of Chiusa Sclafani and Contessa Entellina.
After settling our horses, we will enjoy the hospitality of the abbey, with an aperitif and a guided tour of the abbey.
Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Menfi

SANTA MARIA DEL BOSCO / MENFI (B/L/D)
After breakfast, we will set off towards the final leg of the Wine Route.
Leaving the abbey behind, we will enter the dense oak and holm oak forests of the Monte Genoardo Nature Reserve, reaching a beautiful panoramic point where we can see Lake Arancio with the Mediterranean Sea in the background.
Lunch will be at a family-run agricultural business.
We will continue our journey through the pine forest in the territory of Sambuca di Sicilia and pass through some of the Planeta family's vineyards until we reach their historic winery: Tenuta Ulmo.
A young group and a family united by passion and tradition dedicate themselves to wine and olive oil production and hospitality, always maintaining a family atmosphere.
We will visit the winery, bid farewell to our horse companions, who will return home by van, and relax with a transfer by minibus to Menfi, where we will be welcomed at another of Planeta’s facilities, La Foresteria Planeta Estate, dedicated to high-quality hospitality.
Dinner and overnight stay.
