Day 1: Cusco

Set off to discover the Inca archaeological sites all the way to the legendary Machu Picchu! A trip to Peru is an immersion in the culture and tradition of the Incas. With this itinerary, we’ll combine three days on horseback exploring fascinating locations:
The famous town of Chinchero with its 17th-century church and an incredible view of the imposing, snow-capped Mount Salkantay;
The Salineras salt pans in the Sacred Valley;
The picturesque village of Pichingoto, which in the Quechua language means “bird”;
The magical Inca sites of Moray and Maras, two key places in this ancient civilization.
On foot, we will explore the ruins of Ollantaytambo, with its vast and steep terraces overlooking spectacular Inca remains—one of the few places where the Spanish conquistadors were defeated in a major battle.
Finally, the magical train to Aguas Calientes will complete your journey through Peru. This is the gateway to Machu Picchu, which means “old mountain”, an important archaeological site located in the Urubamba Valley at about 2,400 meters above sea level.
In the vast empire that once stretched from Quito (Ecuador) to Santiago (Chile) and Mendoza (Argentina), the Incas built an extensive network centered around the city of Cusco. This itinerary is a special mix of nature, ruins, and traditions.

ITALY / CUSCO (-/-/-)
Pick-up from Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport (CUZ) and check-in at a hotel in Cusco (please plan your arrival by early afternoon. If not possible, we recommend spending the previous night in Lima – request a quote). In the afternoon, a guided walking tour of the archaeological area of the ancient Inca capital is planned, including the Sacsayhuaman ruins. Dinner at leisure and overnight stay.

Day 2: Cusco

CUSCO / HUCHUY CUSCO (B/L/D)
Breakfast and transfer to the point where the horses await us. We’ll ride through hills featuring typical agricultural terraces. Following ancient trails, we reach Huchuy Cusco, considered by archaeologists to be a royal estate of the Inca ruler Viracocha. Your guide will enchant you with tales of ancient times. In the afternoon, we’ll enjoy breathtaking views before spending the night in a traditional village, hosted by a Quechua family offering clean, simple rooms and a delicious traditional meal.

Day 3: Urubamba

HUCHUY CUSCO / URUBAMBA (B/L/D)
Breakfast, then back in the saddle through Inca ruins. We’ll cross the same pass as the day before and arrive at a series of small lakes where many birds come to drink. We’ll have lunch along the lakeshore and in the afternoon arrive in Chinchero, a small colonial village. Here we leave the horses and transfer by vehicle to a charming boutique hotel in the Hatun Valley for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Urubamba

URUBAMBA (B/L/D)
After a short transfer to retrieve the horses, we’ll ride along flat trails passing farms and small rural villages. Enjoy panoramic views of the snow-capped Vilcanota mountain range. We’ll stop near an abandoned cathedral for a scenic lunch. In the afternoon, we’ll head to Salineras, a vast terraced area with saltwater-fed pools. Dinner and overnight stay in Hatun Valley.

Day 5: Urubamba

URUBAMBA / OLLANTAYTAMBO (B/L/D)
We ride under the equatorial morning sun along cobbled paths, passing the picturesque village of Pichingoto and climbing to 1,000 meters above one of the Inca sacred valleys, reaching Moray—a complex and mysterious archaeological site still puzzling historians today. After lunch, we head to the colonial town of Maras. We say farewell to our horses and transfer to our beautiful colonial hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Cusco

OLLANTAYTAMBO / CUSCO (B/-/-)
After breakfast, board the magical train to Machu Picchu. Along the way, enjoy the colors and scents of rural Peru. We’ll arrive in Aguas Calientes, the gateway to Machu Picchu. Free time for lunch and in the late afternoon, return to Cusco. Dinner at leisure and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 7: Cusco

CUSCO (B/-/-)
Free day to relax, shop, and wander around Cusco independently. You’ll find a wide variety of colorful souvenir shops and alpaca wool clothing. Dinner at leisure and overnight stay.

Day 8:

CUSCO / ITALY (B/-/-)
Breakfast and transfer to the airport in time for your flight back to Italy or to continue your journey (ask us for a customized quote).
