Day 1: Los Glaciares National Park

EL CALAFATE / LOS GLACIARES NATIONAL PARK (-/-/D)
This exciting adventure begins at a typical Argentine Estancia, in the pristine "Los Glaciares" National Park. The park is located in the province of Santa Cruz, in Argentine Patagonia, and has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1981. It covers an area of over 12,000 hectares, stretching to the Chilean border, and takes its name from the massive ice cap of the Andes mountain range, which is the origin of 47 valley glaciers.
The starting estancia, founded at the beginning of the century to populate these desolate areas, lies on the shores of Lake Argentino with a stunning view of Cerro Torre. From here, we will leave behind the comforts and embark on our adventure on the tireless Creole horses. Exploring this corner of the world on horseback is a unique privilege: we will reach places where very few humans have set foot, sleep in makeshift outposts, cooking meals over the fire like the gauchos. We will cross the Andean forest, admire crystal-clear lakes, the bluest sky you've ever seen, and breathtaking views of the almost unexplored Frias, Gorra, and Dickson glaciers. The horse will be our only companion and means of transport—there are no trails, no roads, just the vastness of the mountains in front of us, which leave humans in awe.
Transfer on your own from the airport to the center of El Calafate. At 4:30 PM, a pick-up from the estancia’s central office will take you to Estancia Nibepo Aike, about a 1.5-hour transfer. (Transfers at other times are available upon request for an additional fee). Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Los Glaciares National Park

LOS GLACIARES NATIONAL PARK – PUESTO LA ROSADA (B/L/D)
We saddle up to begin the climb of the Cordon de los Cristales mountain, offering magnificent views of surrounding lakes like Brazo Rico, Lake Roca, and Cerro Frias. We will notice the typical Patagonia vegetation and follow trails used to move herds, arriving at the outpost called La Rosada in time for lunch. This small refuge, built in the early 1920s, is still used by gauchos to monitor grazing livestock. Extremely simple, heated by a small wood stove, it has neither electricity nor running water. In the afternoon, we will head to the Chilean border, symbolically marked by a fence and a sign, the southernmost part of the south. Overnight at La Rosada.

Day 3: Los Glaciares National Park

LOS GLACIARES NATIONAL PARK - PUESTO LAGUNA 3 DE AVRIL (B/L/D)
We will leave the dense forest and arrive at the wide valley of the Rio Cachorro, descending along the riverbed. We will begin to see the start of the glacier and continue until we reach Laguna 3 de Avril, where we will arrive at the homonymous outpost for the night, warmed by lantern light. The name comes from the founding date of the main estancia.

Day 4: Los Glaciares National Park

LOS GLACIARES NATIONAL PARK – PUESTO LAGUNA 3 DE AVRIL (B/L/D)
After breakfast at the refuge, we head to the lake shore to begin the excursion to the "hidden glaciers," a combination of boat ride and trekking to reach a unique point between mountains and glaciers, where only a few people venture. Once the group is aboard, the boat navigates through Brazo Sur to its southernmost point. After a brief walk through the native forest, we reach the first panoramic point of the glaciers. At the end, we can see Lake Frías, which will be navigated in zodiacs shortly after. It’s a 3 km navigation to the opposite shore, where a new excursion begins. We follow an old riverbed to reach an amphitheater in front of the Gorra, Frías, and Grande glaciers. The group will have lunch near Laguna de los Témpanos, enjoying the view not only of the 3 glaciers but also of the icebergs that decorate the milky waters of the lagoon. This area of Los Glaciares National Park is nearly unexplored, known only to a few gauchos and cows, who are familiar with the hidden places and secrets of the region. Return in the afternoon, dinner, and overnight at Puesto Laguna.
WARNING! If the excursion is canceled due to unfavorable weather conditions, the day will be spent horseback riding.

Day 5: Los Glaciares National Park

LOS GLACIARES NATIONAL PARK (B/L/D)
We return to the estancia along the southern arm of Lake Argentino for 18 km. Arrival in time for lunch, followed by one last grand barbecue. The afternoon is free to explore the surroundings. Dinner and overnight stay at the main estancia.

Day 6:

LOS GLACIARES NATIONAL PARK / EL CALAFATE / ITALY (B/-/-)
Breakfast and transfer to the city office of El Calafate at 2:30 PM. Transfer on your own to the airport. (Transfers at different times available upon request for an additional fee). You can continue your stay and visit the famous Perito Moreno Glacier.
