Day 1: Cape Town

ITALY / CAPE TOWN / WINELANDS (-/L/D)
This itinerary is designed for those who dream of horseback riding through the South African Winelands. North of Cape Town, the “Mother City” as South Africans call it, lies the Boland — meaning "highland" — a beautiful and renowned wine-growing region celebrated for the high quality of its products. The stunning mountain ranges surrounding Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, and Paarl create an ideal microclimate for grape cultivation and offer breathtaking scenery.
We will ride between the vineyards of this Dutch-influenced region — the Dutch settled here at the end of the 17th century, establishing Western-style towns. This area is known as the "wineries," with rolling hills and private farms where you can savor excellent South African wines — all on horseback. An exclusive stop not to be missed when visiting the Cape Peninsula and a perfect relaxing interlude before diving into the vibrant and multicultural Cape Town.
Let’s explore the main towns:
Stellenbosch: A stylish historical town with majestic Cape Dutch, Georgian, and Victorian buildings along oak-lined streets. Beyond its beauty, Stellenbosch offers interesting museums, high-end accommodations, a wide variety of bars, nightclubs, and restaurants. It is lively with locals, students, Cape Town weekenders, and tourists. Founded in 1679 by the Cape Governor on the banks of the Eerste River.
Franschhoek: Over 300 years ago, a group of French Huguenots settled in this stunning valley, bringing their vines with them. The town retains its French heritage and is known as the country's gastronomic capital. It will surprise you with its art galleries, wine estates, and elegant guest houses.
Paarl: Surrounded by mountains and vineyards, Paarl lies on the banks of the Berg River and is the largest town in the Winelands. Often overlooked by travelers heading to Stellenbosch or Franschhoek, Paarl still holds charm with its Cape Dutch buildings, pretty farmhouses, a good selection of accommodations, and fine restaurants.

Arrival on your own in time for lunch (or airport pick-up on request) and transfer to the winery area, about 50 km away. Lunch (if flight time allows, otherwise it will be on the last day) and first afternoon ride. Free time for relaxation before dinner. Overnight at the farm.

Day 2:

WINELANDS (B/L/D)
After breakfast, we saddle up and ride through endless vineyard rows heavy with grapes. We'll enjoy breathtaking views of Paarl Valley. We follow the hills of Simonsberg Mountain towards Anura Wine Estate — a long trail perfect for a brisk gallop. Wine tasting at the estate followed by a delicious à la carte lunch at their restaurant. Return by around 4:00 PM with time for a swim before dinner prepared by local chefs. Overnight at the farm.

Day 3:

WINELANDS (B/L/D)
By now, fully in tune with our horse, we face another day in the saddle: riding through pine and eucalyptus forests that open to sweeping views of the Paarl and Franschhoek valleys. Stop at Backsberg, another internationally renowned estate. Wine tasting and outdoor lunch at the beautiful restaurant (weather permitting). Afternoon return with views of the mountains. Overnight at the farm.

Day 4:

WINELANDS (B/L/D)
Today, we explore less cultivated areas, passing orchards and vineyards — whether at a trot or gallop, the morning promises excitement and leads us to another tasting followed by lunch. Free afternoon for relaxation, golf, or visiting the historical towns of Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, or Paarl (10–20 minutes away). Dinner in a local restaurant and overnight at the farm.
Alternatively, full-day excursions (payable locally) are available:
Beach picnic horseback ride
Cape of Good Hope with penguin colony visit and Table Mountain
Shark cage diving

Day 5:

WINELANDS (B/L/D)
A full day on horseback heading east toward Simonsberg. Long gallops among eucalyptus trees lead to the stunning Plaisir de Merle farm, where we stop for lunch. This estate, founded in 1693, produces world-renowned wines. Enjoy a tasting with cheese and biltong under centuries-old oak trees. On the way back, we pass peach and plum orchards. Informal dinner — a South African braai (barbecue). Overnight at the farm.

Day 6:

WINELANDS / CAPE TOWN / ITALY (B/-/-)
Breakfast, final horseback excursion, and independent transfer to Cape Town Airport (transfer available upon request at extra cost) or to your hotel for continued travel. (Lunch included today if missed on Day 1.)

Note:
The program is indicative. Excursions and daily activities may vary depending on the season and the availability of the wine estates. Stays are flexible, but we recommend a minimum of 5 nights to fully experience the area. Optional excursions like the Cape of Good Hope, whale watching, and shark diving (seasonal) can be arranged locally at extra cost.
