Day 1

ITALY/RØMØ (-/-/D)
On horseback, discover the Frisian Islands archipelago! These islands form an archipelago in the North Sea, running parallel to the coasts of the Netherlands, Germany, and Denmark, covering a total length of about 450 km, just a few kilometers from the mainland. The stretch of sea between the mainland and the islands is called the Wadden Sea ("Waddenzee" in Dutch or "Vadehavet" in Danish), literally "muddy sea." Famous for its rich flora and fauna, in June 2009, the Wadden Sea was included as a UNESCO World Heritage site for its natural value. We will be based on the island of Rømø, and from here, riding the sturdy Icelandic horses, we will have the chance to explore the nearby islands while enjoying the peaceful sensation that only being in the middle of the sea can provide...
Among the most important islands we will visit:
Mandø, which likely means “island of men,” is about 7.63 km² in size and home to 62 inhabitants. Located about 12 km southwest of the ancient city of Ribe, it is surrounded by vast muddy stretches and salt marshes, providing feeding areas for countless birds and other organisms. The island can only be accessed twice a day during low tide via a four-kilometer dirt road that connects it to the mainland.
Vester Vedsted, strategically close to the beautiful Ribe, offers many attractions to explore, making it an undeniably popular travel destination.

Arrival at Billund Airport, meeting with our local representatives and transfer of approximately one hour to the island of Rømø, which is connected to the mainland by a long causeway. Alternatively, car rental is recommended.
Check-in from 3:00 pm. Buffet dinner at the hotel between 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm.
After dinner, meeting with the guides at the hotel bar and presentation of the programme for the week.
Overnight at the hotel.

Day 2

RØMØ (B/-/D)
Breakfast. From 8:30 am to 10:30 am, visit to the stables, followed by a theoretical introduction to the Tölt, the characteristic gait of the Icelandic horse, with a practical demonstration and a subsequent lesson on the oval track.
In the afternoon, a horseback ride of approximately 3 hours is planned along the Gamle Banandune route.
The day ends with an evening video screening accompanied by coffee and tea.
Overnight at the hotel.

Day 3

RØMØ (B/L/D)
After breakfast, departure for a full-day excursion to discover the island of Sylt.
Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 4

RØMØ (B/L/D)
Departure for an approximately 8-hour excursion to discover Mandø, including around 4.5 hours on horseback.
This will be followed by a Rømø safari, with the possibility of stopping for some shopping at the Hyldahl equestrian store.
Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 5

RØMØ (B/-/D)
Horseback ride of approximately 4 hours along the Slagterbanken route.
Weather and sea conditions permitting, there will also be the opportunity to enjoy the special experience of entering the water and swimming with the horses.
In the evening, a leather craft workshop is planned, during which old leather materials will be transformed into a small souvenir to take home as a memory of the journey.

Day 6

RØMØ (B/L/D)
After breakfast, departure at approximately 9:00 am for five hours on horseback exploring the island of Rømø.
We will ride through the Plantage area until reaching the beach, then continue along the shoreline towards Lakolk, where we will stop for a picnic lunch.
Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 7

RØMØ (B/L/D)
A full-day riding excursion of approximately 7–8 hours to Koresand.
The horses will be prepared and loaded onto the trailer for the nearby island of Mandø. From there, we will ride through the village and across the dike towards Koresand, a vast sandbank covering approximately 24 square kilometres in the middle of the Wadden Sea, southwest of Mandø.
The area is also known as the “Wet Desert”: an endless expanse of sand where, once you move far enough away, neither land nor water seems visible.
Although Koresand continues to expand over time, there is no permanent vegetation or fixed dune system, as the entire area can be completely submerged by the sea during storms.
You will ride through a seemingly endless landscape, surrounded by the sea, with opportunities to canter along the firm beach while observing thousands of birds and seals.
After approximately 3.5 hours of riding, we return to Mandøgården, stopping for a picnic lunch.
Return to Rømø for dinner and overnight.
