Day 1: Roz Sur Couesnon

ITALY / ROZ-SUR-COUESNON (-/-/D)
Normandy is rich in history, culture, and natural landscapes: discover the land of the Vikings, the early Dukes, and its medieval abbeys on horseback. This horseback trekking will allow you to explore the landscape of a bay with many different faces. You will pass through forests and villages dotted with granite churches. Gradually, we will reach the coast and arrive at the harbor of Cancale and the Pointe du Grouin. You will discover a rugged coastline, cliffs plunging into the sea, as well as beautiful sandy beaches nestled between rocky headlands. We will ride along the wide sandy stretch, from Cancale to Mont Saint Michel. The latter, with its remarkable sanctuary architecture, is considered one of the most extraordinary examples of sacred architecture, and the bay in which the rocky island rises, with its tides, makes it the most visited tourist site in Normandy and one of the most visited in France. It is the site of the largest tides in continental Europe. The French call it “la vague,” which can be seen coming from afar, slow yet inexorable, covering the beach and the bay where the rocky islet of Mont Saint Michel rises. Mont Saint Michel and its bay have been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1979. Normandy is also famous for its gastronomy: cheeses, fruits, cider, Calvados, pancakes, numerous sweets, and a true symphony of seafood, including the famous oysters from the salt marshes surrounding Mont Saint Michel.
Arrive independently at the equestrian center "La Bégossière" in Roz-sur-Couesnon toward the end of the day (from 18:00) or arrange for a pick-up from Pontorson train station (on request, included between 18:00 and 20:00). Dinner and overnight stay at the refuge.

Day 2: Roz Sur Couesnon

ROZ-SUR-COUESNON (B/L/D)
After breakfast, we prepare the horses to head towards Mont-Saint-Michel in the direction of Cancale. We cross the "Balcony of the Bay" of Roz-sur-Couesnon to enjoy a stunning view of the polder and the entire bay of Mont-Saint-Michel. Through the "Hauts de Saint-Marcan," we ride through a dense forest with steep paths. We then arrive at the Chappe Telegraph, an old means of communication. We resume our journey, riding along the crest of Saint-Broladre on wooded paths that lead us to the polder, these cultivable lands reclaimed from the sea, and finally arrive at Vivier sur Mer for lunch. The afternoon will allow us to explore the oyster side of the bay, following the beach. Return to the same refuge.

Day 3: Saint-Benoît-des-Ondes

ROZ-SUR-COUESNON / SAINT-BENOÎT-DES-ONDES (B/L/D)
Today, we head towards the beaches and cliffs of the Cancale coast. We pass near the Beauregard Castle and then head towards Pointe du Nid, where we spot the Fort du Guesclin. We cross the Cancale Peninsula, passing by the Verger Beach, Pointe de la Moulière, to reach Pointe du Grouin! This rocky promontory offers one of the most beautiful views of the Mont-Saint-Michel Bay, the Chausey Islands, and the Normandy coast. We also spot the Island of Landes, a bird reserve. After a picnic in a charming setting, we continue along the Grande Rade de Cancale. Return to the guest rooms and enjoy a tasting of the famous Cancale oysters! Cancale is renowned for its oyster farming. The native oyster of the Mont-Saint-Michel Bay is the flat oyster or "Pied de cheval."

Day 4: Saint-Benoît-des-Ondes

SAINT-BENOÎT-DES-ONDES (B/L/D)
We ride along the coast to follow the entire bay from Cancale to Mont-Saint-Michel. After long gallops on the beaches, we reach Cherrueix for lunch at a seaside restaurant. We then set off again along the Duchesse-Anne dike towards the Sainte-Anne Chapel site, a place of pilgrimage. We cross the "herbus" area, located between the dike and the sea. During very high tides, this area is covered by the sea, but during normal periods, it still hosts the famous "salty" sheep of the bay, as well as numerous birds. Overnight at the refuge and dinner at a nearby restaurant.

Day 5: Roz Sur Couesnon

SAINT-BENOÎT-DES-ONDES / ROZ-SUR-COUESNON (B/L/D)
We follow the path back along the dike that marks the boundary of the herbus polder, getting closer to Mont Saint-Michel. A morning departure will allow us to enjoy the light effects on Mont Saint-Michel and discover the herbus area. We then cross the dike, which offers a unique view of the Mont, and follow the Couesnon River until we reach our lunch stop. The afternoon will give us the chance to explore the Anse de Moidrey, which was long used as the main mudflat of the Mont-Saint-Michel Bay. It is an old meander of the Couesnon River, filled and drained by the construction of the polders and the sea gates of the barracks.

Day 6: Roz Sur Couesnon

ROZ-SUR-COUESNON (B/L/D)
Today is the awaited day! We take the path that leads us to the Couesnon River, then head towards the dike we saw the previous day to meet our guide waiting at the fine sand bay to lead us into the bay! During the crossing, we will experience intense moments. The exceptional lighting gives magical colors to this infinite landscape. The island of Tombelaine, a huge rock situated in the middle of the bay and also a bird reserve, and of course Mont Saint-Michel, so imposing and majestic... Our guide will share the stories and legends of these mysterious places. Then, we gallop through the vastness of this landscape, where the only limits will be crossing the rivers. After this intense crossing, we will bring the horses to graze in Adevon for lunch and then enjoy Mont Saint-Michel. We will return on horseback in the evening to conclude this experience and enjoy the sunset.
